About the event
The event began with a series of informative talks. IRNASA-CSIC researcher Carmen Escudero Martínez explained the potential of edible wild plants, the focus of the REWILD project. Meanwhile, María José García, founder of the Manuela Hemp Lab company, discussed the potential of hemp cultivation. Finally, Luis González Knowles, a technician at the farm, spoke about the trials with alternative crops currently being carried out as part of the OH-FINE project.
Afterwards, participants were given a tour of the farm to see the current trials, which included the wild plants from the REWILD project and the experimental crops from OH-FINE (teff, chickpeas, buckwheat, flax, lupin, horse vetch, hemp and crotalaria).
This activity is part of the European OH-FINE project, coordinated by IRNASA-CSIC and funded by the European Union (call for proposals HORIZON-CL6-2024-GOVERNANCE-01) and SERI (Swiss Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation). The initiative involves nine European countries, with the aim of creating a European network through which organic farmers can share experiences and knowledge.
